I’m Matt. I’m 38 years old. I’m married, with two kids. I’ve had a rollercoaster of a life, but I’m still here, and I’m still smiling (mostly).
I work in IT. Always have done, always will do. Constantly evolving what I do and my skill set to stay ahead of the robots (well, automation) that’s invariably going to put me out of a job. The stuff that I’m doing right now, didn’t even exist when I started my career.
My focus at the moment as a ‘Platform Engineer’ is in Amazon Web Services (AWS), I’m a certified AWS solutions architect.
Whatever role I end up in the future, I want to make sure that I stay hands on ‘doing’ rather than ‘designing’. I don’t mind designing things as long as I still get to build them and troubleshoot them. Everyone loves having a good problem to solve.
I occasionally take photographs, even less often than that, I post them up online on my photoblog.
The photoblog software I was using stopped being developed back in 2011, so it wasn’t the best of platforms. I’ve migrated onto wordpress now. I’ve got a tech blog and a personal blog but I haven’t copied the old posts here. In the past, I’ve talked about weight loss, about being widowed, about random bits and pieces and about whatever else happened to be floating around my head at the time.
